KILL THE COLORS
Remember the quantization from last issue? Well typically color quantization is combined with some form of dithering (often bayer dithering) to blend between the colors. Basically, you get the color and offset it using a bayer matrix which creates a little bit of variation in the flatter tones to make for smoother color transitions.
I did that here with the page from the last issue to demonstrate what that looks like. Use the button to switch between the traditional quantization and my set color palette quantization!
I spent HOURS trying to get GitHub Pages to show this SMT V screenshot as a texture only to eventually figure out that apparently I just had to convert my PNG to a JPEG.
In the process, I tried a lovely JPEG of my beloved cat Roo and decided that the Roo Cube was too good to cut so now you get both of them as a nice little treat from me.
Look at Roo's fur with my Set Palette Quantization. It looks fantastic! It's very validating to see my shader make Roo's picture look so good.
